I had such an amazing time, as a competitor on Sky Arts Landscape Artist of The Year 2024. Heats were filmed in June and shown on Sky Arts in January 2024.

St Albans Market
St Albans is renowned for its two charter markets – Wednesday & Saturday and over 1,100 years old! I started drawing the Wednesday Market in February 2022, taking a year to draw every stall/van. Starting from The Cheesewheeler Van by St Catherine Street and finishing at The PapaPaella Van, near the Great Gable House.
It’s been amazing hearing the individual stories of each person along the way. So many of the stall holders who worked with their grandparents, as young people, are now continuing the legacy.
I started painting onsite in March 2023, beginning with small oil studies on prepared gesso boards, of each stall/van. I plan to paint bigger ‘composite’ paintings onsite later in the year and then finally work on large canvasses in the Studio.
